Totem Pole Photo Gallery, Shinjuku
Konica Hexar
Photographer: Yoshihito Muta
Muta recently had an exhibition of photos taken in Yangon this past June. I wasn’t able to talk with him when I visited his gallery, but we chatted a bit at my show. He said that the Yangon pictures were taken in about 5 hours during some down time during his trip to Burma for a soccer game. (He’s a freelance sports photographer)
Here’s one thing I enjoy about Japanese photographers- they’re not caught up in any of that web-based street-photo nonsense you read about on blogs. The fact that he had a show of pictures taken in five hours a few weeks before the actual exhibition is something no one has a problem with. If you know what you’re doing there’s no need to wait on your pictures or film- get them up and out there as you can.
