The September issue of Nippon Camera is traditionally the Nude Special- so for the Tokyo Camera Style feature my editor contacted a photographer who specializes in such pictures, Tenmei Kannoh 加納典明. Neither his website nor a simple google image search of his name will be very safe for work but this image will give you an idea of the life he leads as a photographer. Must be tough.
We met up at the Tokyo Sanuki Clubnear Azabujuban and he showed up in pale pink pants and a Fujifilm camera in each hand; an X-T1 and an instax mini 90. Both of which he shot almost more than I did of him- the guy is totally rad and way cooler to than you’d think a professional photographer of his status would be. He had a real confidence that I’ve felt from all the photographer’s I’ve met and shot for this serial- not a shred of pretension or anything off-putting in the least, just a real unwaveringly sureness that you don’t see in a lot of people.
The left page features the brothers who run Osawa Camera in Ebisu, Luis Tsukayama and his Leica M3, a regular of the Shinjuku-Yotsuya photo gallery walk, and Gallery M2 member Mitsuru Sato with his Hexar.
