Five hundred 5x7 color prints of nights and some days in and around the red light district of Shinjuku. Five Hundred pictures taken on the streets, in hostess clubs, stoplights, and back alleys. Women and cars and old men and women, students, dogs and trash and all the weird stuff you see in Shinjuku at night exposed by his Nikon FM2 and flash on cheap color film. But what about poetic decisive moments? Every picture is a moment, see- and even the title is against convention— Non-Selection? Exactly. There is a lot to take in- the overwhelming rush of being confronted by so many rough little prints is part of the point and a lot of the fun. Their content makes the experience even better.
More Haruto Hoshi (some nsfw) at Japan Exposures here. They also carry his photobook Luminance of Streets.
