While shooting in Shinjuku Wednesday I ran into both Shinya Arimoto (with the Hasselblad SWC) and another Totem Pole Photo Gallery ( on tumblr!) member, Dan Epthorp (with his Contax T3).
Since it was a national holiday major swaths of Shinjuku’s streets were closed to vehicles setting the stage for all kinds of pedestrian action and with the weather as great as it was- and with the brilliant light yellowed by the effects of another Chinese desert yellow dust cloud, the afternoon was a pure photographer’s paradise.
Arimoto told me later that he shot two rolls that day- which was more than my roll and a half for the hour I was out- but Dan told me he shot eight rolls over the course of the afternoon.
