Details of the Leicavit and strap lug wear on a daily shooter Leica MP Anthracite (one of 400 made) with Voigtlander 75mm f1.8 Heliar lens. I just happened to see him pass by with this camera over his shoulder.
This is only the third Anthracite MP that I’ve seen- the first was at the Nikon Salon a few years ago and the second was one of the cameras which Herbie Yamaguchi uses.
While the MIR profile says that the Anthracite finish is resistant to abrasion these pictures suggest otherwise. Regardless, I absolutely love seeing these limited edition Leicas being used.
You’re probably wondering what the deal is with the tape over the battery compartment cap. He told me that he had trouble with the SR44 batteries swelling and making it nearly impossible to unscrew the lid. His solution was to put the cap on looser and then tape it down to prevent it from coming off accidentally.
(I had the same problem about a year ago with those batteries on an MP and actually ended up taking the body down to the Leica service center in Ginza so for them to get the lid off for me. I’ve since followed their advice in using a only a DL Lithium 1/3N battery and have had no problems since.)
