In November broadcaster NHK aired a 45min documentary on Nobuyoshi Araki’s 2015 as an episode of their “Sunday Art Museum” series- the video (in Japanese) can be viewed online here: 日曜美術館「写狂老人“時”記~写真家・荒木経惟 75歳の日々~」 (for how long it will be up is anyone’s guess)
The video looks at four photo exhibitions of his work held in 2015-
May: Men- Naked Face by Araki and KaoRi Through the Looking Glass: Photo-Mad Old Man A 2015.5.25 75th Birthday
August: Imka
September: Negaeropolis Uganbochi
While the exhibitions are essential to the episode but the real star of the show is of course Araki and his wit is on full display here, sharp and clever as ever. In addition to interviews, we get a glimpse of a few of his photoshoots- in one scene, the narrator notes that Araki shot 50 rolls of film through his Pentax 67 in a three hour session with his muse Kaori.
The screen grabs above show Araki at work on the street in Ginza (with his Leica M7 and 50mm Elmar-M lens). I think that this footage was shot in the summer of 2014, with the resulting portals, er, photos, having been exhibited at Shiseido Gallery at the end of last year.
