Sample pages of Tokyo Rumando’s latest photobook: S
Rumando’s work is always based on self portraiture in relation to personal concepts of femininity and society. Rumando has full control over every part of her process- from concept, the taking of the photographs, and printing the negatives in a darkroom.
“S” as a title is open to interpretation- quite a few words that begin with S readily come to mind when flipping through the pages. S enjoys a more narritiveistic flow to it than her previous series- it echos an era of Japanese photography which Rumando’s growing fanbase won’t be disappointed with. It’s a good entry to new viewers of her work as well.
