I’ve posted every entry in Sato’s ongoing Yesterday series that he’s had over the past few years- He keeps on doing his thing, and doing it well. Every single time I see him he’s got a film camera around his neck- I can’t imagine him with out one. Sato is far from the internet street photo scene- he isn’t on instagram, he doesn’t have a website. In fact, the greatest online archive of his work might be in these TCS posts. He could be against sharing his stuff online, but I suspect he’s more interested in making pictures. What I mean is, I don’t think he can be bothered to keep up a website or social media account. And that’s fine. This approach is probably what gives his pictures a feeling of personal interest rather than a desire (direct, or an unconscious one) to make pictures for an audience along the pre-established tropes that so many Internet Street Photographers tend to.
