Photographer Daido Moriyama with photobook publisher Yasunori Hoki at Hoki-san’s new gallery space in Jimbocho: Super Labo Store Tokyo.
The current exhibition is, rather than prints, a series of eye-popping silk screened posters of Moriyama’s work that are available for purchase. Visitors can also browse the growing collection of Super Labo books- Hoki-san has been steadily producing high quality collections of photography by a variety of artists.
Saturday April 19th was the opening reception with Moriyama-san in-house to chat and sign posters from the show. This was very much a Tokyo Photography kind of event- extremely casual and laid-back. Hoki-san is doing a great service for the photography community of Tokyo by facilitating events like this. I know he’s got a lot more planned, too.
The next event for this Moriyama exhibition will be a talk show & book signing event held Saturday, May 11 from 4-6pm. Check the Super Labo site &Instagram account for details.
