Hi.
I’m John.
Since 2008 I’ve enjoyed sharing Tokyo’s fascinating and lively camera & photographic culture with you here- you know, stuff from my random encounters with other photographers, visiting galleries and events- all that stuff that makes “social closeness” so wonderful.
However, things are obviously different now- and until they’re closer to what we want to think is normal, I’m not expecting to get out on the streets for a while.
Don’t worry- I’m not going anywhere (literally). I’ve got quite a backlog of Camera Style pics to share with you.
This post is simply to delineate “Now” & “Then” for the time being.
Pics of Cameras-In-Hands will obviously be from the “then” era but I’m looking forward to sharing a bunch of “now” stuff with you- I’m planning to shift gears just a bit to use this platform to talk about Japan and Photography- I’ve got a mountain of photobooks to share and film development / darkroom process thoughts to post over the coming weeks.
So, stick around! Hopefully things I post will be bright spots in your day- the kind of distractions and inspiration we all need now.
Stay healthy and safe.
Get in the darkroom if you can. 😉
