No posts for two months?

The Main Reason: Computer Friction.  Last year I got a new MacBook Air and, after getting home, found that it wouldn’t run the ancient copy of Photoshop CS3 that I had been using on my wheezing, overheating 2010 MacBook Pro.  “Well, I’ll just buy a new copy.” I thought, naively.

What? Now, instead of buying a program, you have to subscribe to a service. It is more than I want to spend on a program that I would use less than .5% of, a few times a month.  No thanks.

So, I finally downloaded a copy of Gimp for digital file photo editing needs. (Which are, admittedly simple: resize to 1024px across, unsharp mask, slight curve adjustments, and sometimes cloning out dust on peoples’ cameras & lenses & clothing). So, I’m slowly figuring Gimp out. I don’t really like it.  But it’ll do.

Slightly related- my MacBook Pro had a dedicated SD card slot. That was convenient. For the MacBook Air I have to use a 3rd party USB/SD hub dongle that has a bright blue LED light (I quickly taped that over) and I feel like Apple is mocking me every time I use it. “Just give in” they whisper “Just accept and join our endless upgrade cycle.”  No.  Thanks.

In the meantime, TCS on Instagram is where a lot of it is at but I have a soft spot for Tumblr and how its Golden Age was my favorite era of Internet. Back then (2008-2017?) everyone saw your stuff! Even better, you could see everyone else’s stuff!  What an amazing deal.  So that’s what keeps me here. Who knows, maybe Tumblr will see some sort of a revival in 2022 (or at least get rid of the animated ads that appear every three posts in our dashboards).
