Several hundred of Araki’s polaroids from the 2000’s line the walls of Art Space AM- flowers, women, women as flowers, flowers as women. The pictures are vivid and lively, and shine with that 2000’s energy that’s hard to find nowadays.
Viewing these slightly older pictures, I couldn’t help but compare them to Araki’s most recent diaristic snapshots that were published in Them magazine last month- pictures of his nursing home hallway, room-delivered meals, and sunsets seen through the window from his bed, with his wheelchair, against the wall…
