Now up at photo gallery Place M in Shinjuku, a massive exhibition of Jun Abe’s pictures:
Jun Abe: Citizens - Kokubyaku Note - Kokubyaku Note 2
Coinciding with his receiving of the 25th "Society of Photography Award”, this current show is up through August 4th. The low key, almost humble presentation is an honest reflection of the man. The pictures themselves demonstrate the interests of his marvelous eye.
I’ve written about Abe’s work many times before, with reviews of his books Citizens, Kokubyaku Note, Manila, Kokubyaku Note 2, as well as a mini report on an exhibition of his in Tokyo back in August of 2012. I’m going to paste in a sentence I wrote previously- these pictures are the products of his consistently steady visual investigation into the citizens and creatures and surfaces of his native Osaka.
Not much more to say other than don’t miss it!
Annnnd that you can get his books at Japan Exposures.
