Seen: Street Photo Exhibition 17 Yokohama
Who: Haruto Hoshi
Where: 3rd District Gallery, Shinjuku
When: 2/28 - 3/9 2014
What 1: This exhibition is the continuation of Hoshi’s nocturnal prowls with his camera and flash. I’ve posted about his exhibitions in the past (3/2013) and you can see a lot more of his work by going to his profile page on the 3rd District site and clicking on any of the Street Photo Exhibition links. Once any of those pages load click on the sample image at the left and most often an online gallery will be available for viewing. Here’s some of his photos from Osaka. Hoshi has a photobook out entitled Luminescence of Streets with a bilingual afterword that is candidly frank and honest as to why he does what he does- it’s a backstory that is as fascinating as one any character in a novel or movie might have. I know there’s a lot of chatter on the internet about who the Real Hardcore Street Photographers are or aren’t, but Hoshi here, he’s the real deal…
What 2: Nikon FM2 / Ricoh GR1 and Tri-X printed in the 3rd District Gallery darkroom
