TRUE STORY: Ever wonder about the history of a piece of used gear? I hadn’t seen the lens on Dan’s camera for years- and assumed I wouldn’t ever again.
Dan is currently borrowing this 28mm from our friend Colin. Colin purchased this lens from my friend Tim. Tim bought this lens from me back in 2007. I originally purchased it new from Camera Quest back in 2004.
A few images from my Nebraska series were taken with it mounted to an olive Bessa R2 or Leica CL (but not before blacking out the text around the lens with a Sharpie).
Funny how gear gets around- none of us knew the connections until just last week during a conversation Colin and I were having about screw mount lenses for the Canon P. Maybe it’s not such a coincidence- the foreign film-shooter/rangefinder community here in Tokyo is pretty small! Regardless, it’s great to see this lens continuing to be used.
