This month I’ve made an appearance in a feature J-Camera called:
“We’re Leica Friends" Vol. 5 John Sypal

Notes:
1. Previous interviews have been with Kazuo Kitai and Magnum’s Alex Majoi- that’s not bad company to be grouped in with.
2. J-Camera itself is a searchable online database for hunting down photographic equipment from shops all across Japan. While the site is currently in Japanese only, it can be used to check prices and see what gear is actually going for in Japan, and at what shops those individual items are currently for sale.
3. J-Camera has some other interesting content as well- they have:
— a dedicated page of informative video clips demonstrating how to load film in particular camera types.
— a long and informative list of camera repair and service shops in Japan.
— a page that uses a three card monte type thing that instead of ripping you off just randomly recommends gear that can be had for under 10,000 yen ($100) and 30,000 yen ($300)- the far right is the Premium Course. Hit the shuffle button to refresh the recommendations.
— a fun Blog which has appropriately predictable entires such as the a report of the Lemon-sha Nihombashi store opening event- but also categories titled We shot this! , We went here! , I’m afraid I bought this! and another just about consumed alcohol that could have been titled We Drank This! but is instead simply called Drunken Diary.
4. Disclosure! For what it’s worth, J-Camera is run by Nippon Camera, the photography magazine in which Tokyo Camera Style has enjoyed a popular monthly serialization for the past four years. They’re some good people to work with.
