Currently Kodak Tri-X is all sold out in Yodobashi Camera in Shinjku in 35mm & 120mm formats- Tmax 400 in 120, too. The signs next to the empty boxes state that the next shipment will come in sometime in mid-June.
Photographers have been stocking up before the price hike on Kodak products in Japan that kicks in from June 1st. The official press release can be seen here.
With the combination of the recent consumption tax increase and this price hike a 35mm roll of Kodak Tri-X in Japan will jump in price from 640 yen to 950 yen… That’s about $10 USD. It’s much cheaper to order from B&H or Freestyle Photo.
