Blake Andrews is my favorite living writer on photography- his blog is easily the best writing on photography on the internet. He’s also a great photographer and it was great to get to meet the man while he was in Tokyo this spring.
Film-shot fiber-based prints taped directly to the walls was a good way to go with this show. The presentation fits the pictures- pictures loosely about animals but more about photographs. I like that none translate well to Instagram as they require a moment or two of thought to “get” and require an ability to try to see something new or consider different angles. That’s the opposite of how the internet and social media works.
