Seen: COMING OF AGE
Who: So many photographers.
Where: Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo, Omotesando
When: December 11, 2019 - February 16, 2020
The variety of venues in which photography is exhibited in Tokyo is fascinating. You can go see grimy street photos in a tiny smoke-stained gallery somewhere in Shinjuku, and you can enter (for the first time) the luxurious Louis Vuitton building in Omotesando and, after passing through a vapor of expensive perfumes and scarves, ride a glistening elevator up six floors and step into an immaculately white three-storey room with windows overlooking the crowds below.
COMING OF AGE is a curated group show focused on male youth- featuring photographs by Deanna Templeton, Ed Templeton, Ivar Wigan, Nobuyoshi Araki, Haruto Hoshi, Sandy Kim, Ari Marcopoulos. The exhibition, first show in L.A., has been traveling around the world- its swanky Louis Vuitton home for two months includes a photocopier for zine workshops.
